• *two Senior Backend Engineers**

to join their team, working closely with the CTO during the next phase of growth.

With proven technology and strong market traction, our client is now scaling the team to capitalise on the opportunity to disrupt a stagnant market dominated by outdated, expensive, and underperforming competitors. 👀

🔥 This is a crucial role within the business and an excellent opportunity to accelerate your career in a fast-growing scale-up. You’ll work alongside experienced, pragmatic, and friendly colleagues, bringing technical leadership that will help scale the development team over the next two years and beyond.

This is a primarily remote role. However, our client values in-person collaboration and aims to bring the team together for two consecutive days every 4–6 weeks to work and socialise. These meet-ups take place in the South or East of England (rotating locations), so you’ll need to be able to travel, ideally with access to a car.

• *The Role**

You’ll have the opportunity to work across all aspects of the platform - backend services, core technology (and web applications, if of interest). You’ll collaborate closely with customer-facing teams to ensure the platform performs exceptionally well and remains highly responsive to user needs.

You’ll use your experience operating cloud services or complex systems to tackle the technical and operational challenges that come with scaling. You’ll help develop new features and products and play a key role in growing the engineering team over time.

Joining a small but highly experienced and talented team, you’ll gain responsibility and influence quickly. Our client operates in a low-ego environment where decisions are evidence-based rather than hierarchy-driven.

• *What They’re Looking For**
• 10+ years of commercial engineering experience, ideally including time in a start-up or scale-up environment
• Experience developing and operating cloud services or complex systems
• 2+ years of commercial Go experience
• 10+ years’ experience in one or more of: Go, C#, Java, C, or C++
• Strong understanding of building reliable, scalable, maintainable systems, balanced with pragmatism and speed
• Ownership mindset: able to drive work (large or small) to completion
• Comfortable in a Linux development environment
• Experience mentoring less-experienced engineers
• Strong customer focus and product mindset
• Experience using AI agents in the development process, with enthusiasm for pushing boundaries
• Strong interest and capability in either:
• DevOps/operational excellence (observability, infrastructure, deployments), or
• User experience and UI design
• Willingness to join the on-call rota once up to speed
• Adaptable, open-minded, personable, and highly motivated
