Requirements
Must have:
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably with OutSystems and/or low-code platforms - Solid understanding of the full application lifecycle within a structured delivery environment - Solid understanding of Agile project delivery and card-based task tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps - Solid understanding of best practices for development, testing, and deployment - Experience writing and optimising SQL queries - Experience debugging complex workflows and ensuring application reliability - Strong documentation habits and the ability to clearly communicate technical ideas - A proactive mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership - Basic knowledge of API integration within OutSystems, including REST and SOAP, is desirable - Exposure to Microsoft 365, Power Automate, other Microsoft productivity tools, or Azure App Suite is desirable - Comfort with peer review processes and collaborative technical discussions is desirable - Ability to anticipate impacts and dependencies in multi-stream development environments is desirable
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain applications using OutSystems - Create and refine Screens, Client & Server Actions, Aggregates, and logic flows - Write and optimise simple SQL queries as part of data-driven development - Debug, test, and enhance application features with minimal supervision - Independently manage assigned development work across full feature lifecycles - Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions - Adhere strictly to internal coding standards, best practices, and documentation protocols - Participate in code reviews and explain and defend implementation decisions - Work within Agile frameworks, supporting iterative delivery and continuous improvement - Maintain awareness of project goals, timelines, dependencies, and the impact on adjacent workstreams

We have been re-platforming our core external web-facing products over the last few years and are expanding our OutSystems development team due to the volume of activity underway.
We support two core products: one platform for recruitment for several large UK employers, and another delivering employee and volunteer screening services, including right to work in the UK and DBS checks. We work in a hybrid model with the flexibility to work remotely and from our office in Milton Keynes, MK5 8HJ, and the role may require attendance at our premises for meetings when necessary.
