  • *About The Role**
Join the Molecular Networks team at EMBL-EBI as a Full Stack Web Application Developer. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing and maintaining key biological knowledge resources such as IntAct and Complex Portal, which are internationally recognized for their curated data on molecular interactions and macromolecular complexes. Your work will directly support systems biology, drug discovery, and biomedical research by developing robust, scalable, and user-friendly web applications and infrastructure. You will operate at the intersection of biocuration, bioinformatics, and AI-enabled data integration, contributing to the development of innovative tools that enable scientists worldwide to discover, analyze, and reuse complex biological data efficiently.
  • *Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Proven experience in full-stack web development, including front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks and libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Familiarity with database systems, both relational and NoSQL, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of RESTful API development and integration.
  • Understanding of bioinformatics data formats and biological data curation workflows is desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality software development.
  • *Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications that support the curation, visualization, and dissemination of biological data.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticians, curators, and other stakeholders to understand data workflows and user requirements.
  • Implement features that enhance data accessibility, search, and analysis capabilities for end-users.
  • Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of web applications and associated infrastructure.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold software quality standards.
  • Contribute to the integration of AI and machine learning tools into biological data platforms.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in web technologies, bioinformatics, and data science to continuously improve tools and services.
