About The Role The position offers a hands-on Java development opportunity within a dynamic and collaborative environment. As a key member of the technical team, you will be responsible for enhancing existing applications, providing support for internal systems, and contributing to the evolution of the organisation’s technical strategy.

Your work will involve developing new features, maintaining and improving current software, and ensuring the stability and scalability of critical applications. Additionally, you will play a vital role in exploring practical applications of AI within engineering workflows, supporting the organisation’s push towards innovative technological solutions.

This role is structured as a hybrid working arrangement, offering flexibility for remote work combined with on-site presence as needed. It is a permanent position, ideal for candidates seeking long-term career growth. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this role; candidates must hold ILR or a British passport. Occasional out-of-hours support may be required to ensure system stability and respond to operational needs promptly.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Java development, complemented by practical experience with modern AI-assisted coding tools. They should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for continuous learning. Relevant qualifications include:

• Senior-level experience in delivering complex Java-based systems
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar platforms
• Deep understanding of Java technologies including threading, JDBC, sockets, HTTP/S, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), and Java Persistence API (JPA)
• Strong SQL skills with experience deploying Java applications, preferably on Wildfly or similar application servers
• Experience with client-side JavaScript is advantageous
