About The Role We are currently seeking two mid-level Java Engineers to join a dynamic fintech scaleup based in Cardiff city centre. This role offers a hybrid working environment, requiring three days per week in the office, providing a flexible balance between collaborative in-person work and remote productivity.

As part of this innovative team, you will play a vital role in developing and enhancing cutting-edge financial technology solutions. The first position focuses on feature delivery within product engineering, where you will be mentoring junior developers and contributing to the full lifecycle of software development. The second role involves working within a leaner team to leverage artificial intelligence for building new features from scratch, utilizing Cursor for AI model development.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly within highly regulated industries such as financial services.

Experience with Java (versions 8 and above), building APIs, and microservices using Spring Boot is essential. Familiarity with full-stack development, including React and TypeScript on the front end, is highly desirable but not mandatory. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure will be advantageous, especially since the company operates within an AWS cloud infrastructure.

Candidates should demonstrate a passion for continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth. Previous experience in the financial or mortgage sectors, while not mandatory, will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs and microservices using Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate closely with product teams to deliver new features and enhance existing functionalities.
• Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Engage in continuous improvement of development practices and stay updated with emerging technologies.
• For the AI-focused role, leverage Cursor to develop and integrate AI models into new product features from inception.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new functionalities within the fintech platform, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
• Work within an AWS cloud environment, managing and deploying applications effectively.
