We're working with a leading digital transformation consultancy delivering mission-critical infrastructure for the NHS on this exciting opportunity.

This is a high-impact, 12-month contract role where you will build scalable, interoperable digital services that underpin the UK's healthcare ecosystem. You will leverage Java 17, Spring Boot, and AWS to modernise national healthcare platforms, ensuring seamless integration and high-volume performance for millions of citizens.

• *The Role
• Design and engineer robust Java-based backend services and microservices within a distributed, event-driven architecture.
• Build and integrate scalable RESTful APIs that handle high-frequency user interactions across the healthcare ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Architects and Product Managers to define technical direction and implement best practices in software engineering.
• Drive code quality through automated testing, rigorous code reviews, and sophisticated CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy and manage containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes within cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure).
• *What You'll Need
• Deep expertise in Java development (Java 8/11/17) and the Spring Boot framework for enterprise-grade applications.
• Strong background in building microservices and working with event-driven tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration using Kubernetes or Docker.
• Direct experience working on NHS digital programmes or large-scale public sector initiatives, ideally with knowledge of HL7 or FHIR standards.
• A solid understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder project environments.
