Java Software Engineer

We're working with a leading specialist in public sector digital transformation on this exciting opportunity to secure and modernise the UK's critical national infrastructure.

This is a high-impact role for a security-cleared engineer to build robust, scalable microservices that support UK Government and Law Enforcement initiatives. You will leverage a modern tech stack including Java 17+, Spring Boot, and AWS to deliver mission-critical software in an agile, fast-paced environment.

• *The Role
• Design and develop high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot within a secure AWS cloud environment.
• Take full ownership of the development lifecycle, from initial architecture and TDD (JUnit/Mockito) to CI/CD deployment via Jenkins.
• Build and maintain mission-critical data pipelines and messaging systems using Kafka and PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary squad of engineers, designers, and analysts to solve complex technical challenges for national security projects.
• Drive engineering excellence by implementing containerisation strategies with Docker and managing database migrations via Liquibase.
• *What You'll Need
• Active SC Clearance (essential) and a strong background in developing secure enterprise-level Java applications.
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot for microservices architecture and a solid grasp of relational databases like Postgres.
• Hands-on experience with modern DevOps tools including Docker, Jenkins, and Gradle for automated build and deployment.
• Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.
• Exposure to front-end technologies like React and TypeScript, or event-driven architecture using Kafka, is highly desirable.
