ABOUT THIS ROLE

This role is based in our Leeds office, and we offer a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH.

We are looking for a junior JAVA developer to join our internal ecommerce development team at ghd. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to be part of a new team and contribute to the success of ghdhair.com. After a successful replatform to SAP Commerce Cloud (v2) we are looking to what’s next – continuing to push the capabilities of the platform and ghd’s customer offering whilst building for a more composable future with everything that entails.

We don’t stand still at ghd and we are looking continuously enhance the platform. We are in a period of continuing growth and this role will be an integral part of the team delivering that growth to the business. The role is an excellent opportunity to enhance your ecommerce with an eye to the future to help us navigate the many technical projects on the roadmap for the next three years at least.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The successful applicant will work alongside our existing third party delivery agency to start to build the in-house experience and capability to develop and grow the commerce platform.
• Work through technical story implementation
• Support and optimisation of existing functionality
• Resolve production issues
• Discovery and implementation through proof of concepts for new features
• Execute continuous delivery of value to the business
• Work with the global technical delivery manager to ensure quality deliverables in a timely manner
• Implement solution design to third-party services and platforms
• Implement ghd best practices and coding standards
• Optimise e-commerce systems for performance, scalability, and security, ensuring a fast and secure online shopping experience

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Industry experience familiar with aspects & concepts such as customer journey, promotions, checkout
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of Java platform (collections, concurrency, etc)
• Analysis skills, ability to challenge approaches and propose the most optimal solutions
• Understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies in particular
• Knowledge of unit and integration testing (JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with developer daily basis tools such as IDE’s, compilers, debuggers, profilers, version control systems, bug tracking systems, build systems (Gradle, Maven2, etc), code coverage and automated testing tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
