Lead Backend Developer - Belfast

Requirements

Must have:

- Strong Node.js & TypeScript experience - Proven experience in a lead or senior engineering role - Experience building scalable APIs / microservices - Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) - Understanding of API security and authentication - Excellent communication and leadership skills - Desirable: Experience with event-driven architecture - Desirable: Exposure to serverless and IaC (Terraform/CDK) - Desirable: Experience with SQL / NoSQL databases - Desirable: Familiarity with ecommerce or complex integrations - Desirable: Knowledge of performance and observability tools

Responsibilities:

- Lead backend development using Node.js & TypeScript - Design and build scalable APIs and microservices - Define architecture, standards, and best practices - Work across cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) and CI/CD pipelines - Drive performance, security, and reliability - Collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders - Mentor developers and lead code quality
