PHP Developer (Laravel / CakePHP)

Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced PHP Developer to join a growing organisation and become a key part of its internal technology team.
You’ll be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting business-critical CRM applications, working closely with Developers, QA Engineers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams within an Agile Scrum environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work across both modern and legacy technologies, solve technical challenges, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of key business applications.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend applications using PHP, Laravel, and CakePHP.
- Deliver new features from development through to testing and deployment.
- Enhance and modernise existing and legacy applications.
- Build and maintain APIs, integrations, and backend services.
- Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Support system design, technical improvements, and performance optimisation.
- Collaborate effectively within an Agile Scrum team.
Required Skills
- 3 years’ commercial PHP development experience.
- Strong experience with PHP 7.4, CakePHP, PHP 8 , and Laravel/Symfony.
- Experience developing backend systems, APIs, and integrations.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database optimisation.
- Good knowledge of JavaScript (ES6 ), HTML5, and CSS.
- Experience with Git, pull requests, and collaborative workflows.
- Familiarity with Docker, Linux/WSL, and automated testing.
- Understanding of clean code, software design principles, and Agile development.
- Exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD, messaging technologies, or microservices would be beneficial
