Purpose of the job:
This new role at the college is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Microsoft Power Platform solutions (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio) to enhance digital services and operational efficiency across the College.
This role works within the college's newly formed Digital Transformation Department to create enterprise-grade applications that support teaching, learning, and administrative functions whilst building internal capability and ensuring governance compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Solution Development and Architecture:
- Design, develop, test and deploy enterprise-grade Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven) following established architectural patterns and College standards.
- Create Power Automate workflows that integrate with existing College systems including Learner Information Systems (Tribal EBS), People and Culture platforms (iTrent), and finance systems (Business Central).
- Build and maintain custom connectors to ensure seamless data flow between Power Platform and third-party educational software.
- Implement responsive design principles ensuring solutions work effectively across all devices used in educational settings.
- Ensure all solutions meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and College digital inclusion policies.
Data Management and Integration
- Design and implement robust data models using Microsoft Dataverse, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
- Establish secure data connections and integrations with SQL databases and external educational platforms.
- Maintain comprehensive solution documentation including technical specifications, user guides, and disaster recovery procedures.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Support:
- Actively partake in, and contribute to, requirements gathering sessions with academic and operational teams to translate business needs into functional applications.
- Provide Level 2/3 technical support for Power Platform solutions, including troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
- Maintain Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes ensuing Managed and Unmanaged solutions live in appropriate environments.
