Python Developer – 3-Month Contract – Outside IR35

Cathcart Technology is seeking a Python Developer for an initial three-month contract with a leading technology company. The role is fully remote, based in the UK, and is outside IR35. With a significant pipeline of planned work, there is potential for the contract to be extended over the longer term. The day rate is £400–£450, plus VAT.

About The Company

Our client is a leading technology company developing an analytics application that supports critical decision-making. Its product brings together and processes large volumes of intelligence about people and their use of technology around the world. The work has a meaningful, socially beneficial purpose, applying technology to help users gain insight from complex data. You will join a rapidly growing software team contributing to an established, industry-leading product.

About The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced Python Developer to make a practical contribution to a high-priority project. You will primarily write Python code to process data and load it into the client’s proprietary service, helping ensure that information can be used effectively within its analytics application. The role will involve working with Python, Django, APIs, Docker and AWS, alongside the existing team and technology environment.

The client is looking for someone who can get up to speed quickly, approach delivery with care and initiative, and work collaboratively with colleagues. This is a hands-on contract role suited to a developer who is comfortable taking responsibility for implementation and contributing to a product that is important to the business.

Qualifications

Candidates should have strong, practical Python development experience and a sound understanding of writing maintainable code. Familiarity with Django, API-based services, Docker and AWS is important, as these technologies form part of the client’s day-to-day development environment.

Experience processing data and integrating it with applications or services will be relevant to the central focus of the work.

You should be confident learning new tools and working with a proprietary platform, even where you have not used the exact same systems before. The client values developers who can take a hands-on approach, communicate clearly, and collaborate with engineers and other team members. A dependable, delivery-focused attitude is essential, as the project is a business priority.

Responsibilities In this role, you will:

  • Develop Python code to process data and load it into the client’s proprietary service.
  • Contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the company’s analytics application.
  • Work with Django, APIs, Docker and AWS as part of the development process.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers and other colleagues across the team.
  • Learn the client’s tooling and development practices quickly and apply them effectively.
  • Take ownership of assigned work and support reliable, timely project delivery.
  • Help build upon an established product used to inform critical decisions.

Benefits This contract offers a competitive day rate of £400–£450, plus VAT, and is outside IR35. The role can be performed fully remotely, with the option to discuss a hybrid arrangement if preferred. The initial term is three months, with the possibility of a longer-term extension based on the client’s pipeline and ongoing requirements. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to a technology product with a meaningful purpose and work alongside a growing software team. The selection process is designed to move quickly and consists of two interview stages, including a conversation with the Head of Engineering and other team members. Interviews can be arranged within a few days for suitable candidates.

Equal Opportunity

Cathcart Technology and its client are committed to a fair and respectful recruitment process. Applications will be considered on their relevant skills, experience and ability to meet the requirements of the role. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of protected characteristics.
