Senior / Principal Python Engineer (AI & AWS)

£120,000 - £140,000 Bonus & Benefits

We're currently seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Python Engineer to join a growing technology team delivering innovative solutions across the payments, fintech, and banking sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, cloud-native platforms where you'll play a key role in shaping technical architecture, driving engineering best practices, and helping to embed AI capabilities into core products and services.

Working within a highly collaborative environment, you'll be involved in building scalable, resilient systems that process high volumes of transactions and data while leveraging modern technologies across Python, AWS, and Generative AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and APIs using Python.
• Build and deploy cloud-native solutions within AWS.
• Develop AI-powered features using Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Contribute to architecture, system design, and technical strategy.
• Drive engineering best practice across software development, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams.
• Mentor and support other engineers within the team.

Required Experience

• Strong commercial experience developing software with Python.
• Proven experience designing and building solutions in AWS.
• Experience with modern software architecture including microservices and APIs.
• Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or LLM-based applications.
• Experience with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Highly Desirable

• Background within payments, banking, fintech, or wider financial services.
• Experience working on high-volume transactional platforms.
• Knowledge of AWS Bedrock, LangChain, RAG, or related AI frameworks.
• Low Latency experience
• Experience operating within regulated environments.
