About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Python Software Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding tech startup based in Bristol. This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a behavioural science platform utilized by leading consumer brands. As a key member of the engineering team, you will work closely with the Head of Engineering to enhance both the core platform and customer-facing products.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, enjoys tackling diverse engineering challenges, and is eager to wear multiple hats in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess:

• Between 2 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python development.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs or backend services.
• Comfortable working within Linux-based environments.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
• Hands-on experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing robust backend services and APIs using Python to support the platform’s core functionalities.
• Contributing to the development and enhancement of the core platform and customer-facing features.
• Building, deploying, and maintaining services using Docker and AWS cloud services.
• Working within a Linux-first development environment, ensuring stability and security.
• Collaborating closely with the Head of Engineering to identify areas for platform improvement and implementing solutions.
• Taking ownership of assigned problems and proactively addressing issues across various areas of the product.
• Participating in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
