About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Python Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team on a 6-month contract basis. This role offers a hybrid working environment primarily remote, with occasional travel to our offices in Leeds or London as needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications that support large-scale government projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, UI/UX designers, and other developers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet client specifications. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects within a leading global IT transformation business, utilizing your technical expertise to influence project success and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in full-stack web development with proven experience in Python and modern front-end technologies. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Candidates should demonstrate extensive hands-on experience with core Python, web frameworks such as Flask and Django, and front-end frameworks like Vue.js. Knowledge of SQL Server database management, AWS cloud services, and containerization tools like Docker is essential. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, as well as experience with Agile methodologies, design patterns, and best coding practices, is highly desirable.
Security clearance (SC) or eligibility for it is a strong advantage, reflecting the sensitive nature of the projects involved.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex web applications utilizing Core Python, Flask, and Django frameworks, ensuring scalable and maintainable code architecture.
- Drive development projects forward by applying strong Python expertise, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Create seamless, user-friendly interfaces through front-end development using Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, ensuring optimal user experience.
- Collaborate within an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Design and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis to support application requirements.
- Implement and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services, Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, and containerization with Docker, supporting scalable deployment architectures.
- Develop event-driven applications following best practices and design patterns such as MVC and MVT, ensuring modular and testable code.
- Oversee integration of various software modules, troubleshoot issues, and perform debugging to maintain system stability and performance.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, participate in code reviews, and promote best practices in software development, including exception handling and object-oriented programming.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring adherence to development standards and version control protocols using GitHub.
