Senior Java Software Engineer

Principal Backend Engineer | London (Hybrid) | Up to £150k

Our client is a high-growth Fintech disruptor that is fundamentally changing how local businesses manage their finances. They are currently undergoing a massive technical expansion to support millions of real-time transactions across their global payment ecosystem.

We are looking for a Principal Backend Engineer to join their London hub. This is a high-impact role designed for a technical leader who wants to stay hands-on with code while driving the architectural roadmap for a platform that empowers thousands of small-to-medium businesses daily.

The Role

• Architectural Ownership: Lead design reviews and solve complex distributed systems challenges involving high concurrency and real-time data processing.
• Hands-on Development: Drive the "gold standard" for backend engineering, contributing high-quality, maintainable code in a fast-paced environment.
• Greenfield Projects: Build and scale microservices from the ground up using a modern, cloud-native stack.
• Technical Mentorship: Act as a force multiplier for the engineering team, coaching senior talent and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
