About The Role

Involved Solutions is currently seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with expertise in Java and Kafka to join a critical project for a leading Central Government Institution. This role is pivotal in supporting high-profile, secure, and scalable software solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex distributed systems, ensuring their robustness, security, and efficiency.

The position is offered on a remote basis, with occasional travel to London, and is initially contracted for six months with the possibility of extension. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with active SC clearance who are looking to contribute to significant government initiatives and work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in software development with a focus on Java and Kafka technologies.

Essential qualifications include experience with Java Spring, Kubernetes, Docker, and a solid understanding of distributed systems. Candidates should have active SC clearance and demonstrate experience working within security-sensitive environments. Additional desirable qualifications include familiarity with MQ Series, Postgres, Redis, or other time-series databases, and hands-on experience with AWS and hybrid cloud architectures.

Knowledge of Confluent and MKS platforms, data replication, event streaming, and data archival processes will be advantageous. Candidates should also have experience working with various data standards such as EDIFACT, XML, and JSON, and be capable of implementing data conversion and quality assurance processes.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance Java applications integrated with Kafka for real-time data streaming. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.

Your role will include implementing containerization solutions using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring seamless deployment and scalability of applications. You will also be tasked with maintaining and enhancing existing systems, ensuring compliance with security standards, and supporting data migration and integration efforts. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and stay updated with emerging industry trends and best practices to continuously improve system architecture and development processes.
