About AMT Structural DesignAMT Structural Design is a growing Structural and Civil Engineering consultancy based in Johnstone, supporting homeowners, architects, and small developers across the West of Scotland and beyond.
We specialise in practical, efficient structural solutions for domestic alterations, extensions, loft conversions, new builds as well as agricultural, heritage and commercial.
Our approach is built on clear communication, trust, reliable turnaround times, and designs that work on site. As demand continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated structural engineer with 2+ years experience to join our team and help deliver high‑quality work to our clients.
You'll work closely with senior engineers and the company director, gaining exposure to a wide range of small‑to‑medium projects. The role is hands‑on and varied, ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving and wants to build engineering confidence.
Structural design in steel, timber, masonry, and concrete
Producing clear calculations, sketches, and technical reports
Carrying out site visits, surveys, and inspections
Supporting senior engineers on larger / complex projects
Liaising with architects, builders, and homeowners
Using engineering software such as Tedds, Tekla, Sand, Autocad, Revit (not essential)
Taking ownership of projects as experience grows
2+ years in a structural engineering consultancy
Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
Good understanding of Eurocodes, Scottish building regulations and SER Ltd procedural guidance
Ability to produce accurate, well‑presented calculations and technical drawings.
Confident communicator with a friendly, professional manner
Proactive mindset and willingness to learn
Interest in progressing toward IEng or CEng (support provided)
