I am a British national who has a range of litigation based experience that I believe has equipped me with a variety of skills that will help me to succeed at your firm. The various transferable skills I have obtained within the Insurance based litigation sector in the UK shall further assist me in transitioning seamlessly into the construction disputes sector.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool (a Russell Group University) with First Class Honours in 2019. I completed my Masters and LPC at the University of Central Lancashire with a 2:1 in 2022. I was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors on the 30th of March 2023. I have been working within the legal industry since 2018.
I started working for SBG Legal assisting them with their civil class action suit against Volkswagen emissions, while still at university. This was a large scale operation which gave me first-hand experience of how a global law firm functions. I learnt how to be adaptable and flexible, two key traits that have continued to serve me well in being able to apply myself to any situation which may arise.
I continued to develop my skills at Harwood solicitors, a claimant focused law firm where I learnt the art of communication. On a daily bases I would speak to a variety of people and quickly realised that the vast majority of people I would encounter did not come from a legal background. These were often experts, clients and witnesses.
I learnt that the best way to be able to provide legal arguments would be to avoid legal jargon all together. I would instead try and use every day examples to convey my points. I also learnt here how to communicate with opposing counsel and Judges using legal precedents to support my point.
I believe that my ability to be able to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and people of different backgrounds will be a key benefit to your firm.
I continued to build on my litigation skills at Keoghs where I gained vital Defendant experience. Keoghs gave me a keen insight into the workings of a national law firm with international shareholders. Keoghs is owned by the Davies Group, a company with over 6,500 employees across 10 countries including the US and UK.
Keoghs allowed me to be able to understand the commercial side to law firms and client management. I was able to understand that for large International clients, “being right” in the legal sense is not the key priority and that a cost/benefit analysis must occur to ensure I proceed down the best financial route. This ability to understand that law firms and our clients are ultimately a business has allowed me to further tailor my advice.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I encourage you to review my CV to better understand my accomplishments and I look forward to meeting and speaking with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
