Aaron Austin

I am interested in all manner of outdoor activities in particular, Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Coasteering, Surfing, Mountain Walking, Hiking, Camping, and cross-country Running. I have been practising judo for many years and have achieved a Green Senior belt along with an FBJ1 teaching badge in Judo which allows me to teach children and young adults. Since an early age I have had an affinity with animals and held a part time job as an animal handler at Pili Palas Nature World for five years and completed a City and Guilds Level One Work Based Animal Care course at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor.

I also obtained a Grade Distinction in Edexcel BTEC Level Two in Animal Care.

Full time Television engineer and warehouse operative at Anomaly Interactive Limited (2018-01 – Present)

My current employment involves a variety of tasks ranging from repairing Television and IT equipment to delivering and installing equipment across the UK. I am mildly Dyslexic as such I have developed my installation and IT repair skills informally rather than through college. Over the last four years I have developed my skills through hard work and determination enabling me to work to the same standards as formally trained engineers. A typical week would involve a combination of:

• Unpacking and testing commercial outdoor television screens ready for installation.
• Repairing software imaging Windows PCs.
• Repairing physical and electronic faults on external industrial Televisions ready to go back out to site on rental.
• Managing stock levels in the warehouse in Anglesey and ensuring the stock is replenished regularly.
• Delivering the equipment to lock ups and schools around the UK.
• Working with engineers to install and connect the screens and PCs on site.
• Attending schools across the UK to carry out onsite training on how to use the equipment.

Building Site Labourer at Bryn Mel Manor (2016-02 – 2018-12)

Worked on the conversion and renovation of a Victorian manor house carrying out general labouring work. Became experienced in working with power tools and general building work.

Bar Staff at The Liverpool Arms (2015-02 – 2016-02)

Working behind the bar making sure the bar and till were always stocked up and the till was always correct through services. I also waited on when I was needed and at the end of the shifts I did the line cleaning on all of the beer lines to keep the lagers and cask ales fresh.

Part time and full time Animal Handler and Guide at Pili Palas Nature World (2007 – 2014)

Reporting to the in-house Zoologist.

• Work as a guide to groups of school children visiting Pili Palas and ensure they gain knowledge of all of the animals, reptiles and birds that are in the reserve.
• Feed and care for all of the animals in Pili Palas in particular "difficult" reptiles and snakes that only a small number of staff are able to handle. These are generally large animals such as large Tague, Burmese Python and Red-Tailed Boa.
• Work closely with "Special Needs" children often providing one on one attention and care.
• Train volunteer Zoologists and other members of staff regarding animal handling and behaviour.

Assistant instructor at Anglesey Adventures (2013-04-28 – 2013-05-12)

I completed a 2-week work experience placement where I was an assistant instructor. This involved teaching children and adults how to safely do various activities such as coasteering, surf kayaking, kayaking, rock climbing, and gorge walking. I also helped with other duties such tidying storerooms and organising equipment.
