My name is Abigail Wilbraham, I am currently finishing my BA (Hons) Secondary Teaching Studies (Geography) degree at The University of Hull. I have always had a passion surrounding education, and therefore a career involving education is invaluable for me.
As well as this, I have always had a passion for animals and wildlife and having pets of my own has deepened this passion. Due to this I would love to have the opportunity to work in a career that involves animals, whether that is working directly with them or working in a career that looks out for them, making sure they are being looked after properly and raising awareness for this. This job would perfectly involve both education and animals which is exactly what I am looking for in a career.
I absolutely love the outdoors and nature, I enjoy going on walks and I am interested in the wildlife on those walks, whether that be the creatures or the landscapes. I not only enjoy walks, but also other exercise and sports such as running and football these are also interests of mine. I consider myself to be willing to learn, I am willing to take the time to learn new things for this job and go above and beyond to widen my knowledge and skill set.
I am passionate, organised, patient, caring and hard working which I believe are all skills and attributes that will be invaluable for this job role.
July 2025-Current: Activity and Leisure Assistant at Parkdean Resorts - this role involves running and leading activities such as Arts and Crafts which includes multiple different crafting activities and other activities such as running bounce park sessions. These activities are predominantly with children varying in ages from toddlers to teens, as well as this there are adults and seniors coming in to take part in activities. Other responsibilities with this role, include - the use of tills, serving customers, taking payments and checking bookings in.
This job has given me skills such as patience, organisation, time-management, numerical skills, confidence, creative skills and communication skills. There have been many occasions that I have had to be creative due to working within an Arts and Crafts Den, and many occasions I have had to be adaptive on the job if things change or go wrong, I have needed to be creative and think quickly to adapt. In regard to communication skills, I have learnt how to communicate effectively for different audiences, for example, communicating to children aged below 5 is different to communicating to those aged 16, and this is something I have learnt within this role.
January 2024- September 2025: Volunteer work at Withernsea High School - This role was a volunteering role within my local secondary school within the Geography department. This volunteering job provided me with many skills and attributes such as patience, communication, empathy, creativity, adaptation skills, being hard-working, listening skills and resilience and curriculum knowledge too.
Furthermore this helped to develop my knowledge around working with SEND children, adapting learning for them and providing extra support.
