I entered accounting to understand the complex issues in law and ethics that can occur in practice. Highlights of my undergraduate degree were: compiling a detailed overview of the collapse of Carillion (1), and a list of audit failures and their reasons (2). I achieved a first in my issues in auditing and business law modules. I continued into strategy, to understand more in-depth how companies build and sustain competitive advantage, following on from my own research in sustainability, and the cyclic economy.
From a young age, I got involved in Young Enterprise, and RAF cadets, where activities required effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as coordination. In the cadets, I attended greens camp, and completed my first class training; I was complemented on my ability to follow instructions well, despite never have done it before.
I have recently finished my MSc Strategy degree, which taught me to use advanced concepts for competitive analysis, corporate entrepreneurship, mergers & acquisitions, and business model analysis. I also worked with local businesses in the Lancaster region, including The Config Team, and Lancaster Brewery, to solve strategic issues, and present our solutions as a group. I often took a leading role guiding group discussions, and finding information. I also submitted a dissertation on the contextual drivers which shape the application of AI in business strategy, which I found really interesting.
With regard to hobbies, I have recently finished the Wainwright mountains, and I regularly go to the gym. I hope to continue my passion for hiking, and determination to climb.
