I am a dedicated and motivated 18-year-old first-year student beginning an Education degree at the University of York this september. I am passionate about developing a deep understanding of diverse subjects, such as ethics and education. Outside of my studies, I enjoy reading, volunteering, and playing rugby, which has helped me develop strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. I am enthusiastic, hardworking, and always eager to take on new challenges and expand my skill set.
Tutor at First Class Learning - Bishops' Stortford (2025-02 – Present)
In my role as an English and Maths tutor, I work with a range of children aged 3-16. Working with a range of ages and abilities has helped me develop my communication skills. My role requires critical thinking and language skills to ensure that students work is assessed fairly and efficiently, and constructive feedback is provided to both students and their parents.
Waitress at The Blind Fiddler at Anstey (2024-08 – 2025-06)
As a waitress, I was responsible for taking orders, serving food and drinks, and clearing and cleaning tables. This taught me to work quickly and efficiently under pressure to ensure that customers received the best service. Due to having to manage a high number of orders and requests, I developed my time managment skills and ability to multitask. Additionally, I have developed my customer service skills when managing complaints and tricky situations.
Summer Bank Staff at Little Bees Day Nursery - Little Hadam (2025-08)
Working at a nursery over my summer holidays allowed me to gain a wealth of experience with children from nine months to five years old. To undertake this role I completed a variety of qualifications including basic firesaftey, safe manual handling of children, level 2 food and hygiene and level 2 child safeguarding. Within this role, I had a variety of responsibilities, including feeding, changing and mediating difficult interactions between children, while providing regular reports to their parents throughout the day.
Childcare at Babysitting (2026-03 – Present)
During the school holidays, I care for two young boys aged 3 and 4. As part of my role, I plan activities, prepare food and assist with personal care routines. I have found this particularly rewarding as it has led to the formation of valuable relationships and allowed me to watch them grow and develop as people.
Sales Assistant at Christmas At Buckland Barn (2021-09 – 2022-12)
I worked two Christmas periods at a local Christmas shop as a sales assistant. In this role my responsibilities were to price and organise stocks, assist customers as well as handling cash at a till to help customers complete purchases. Through these responsibilities, developed my organisation, time management and customer service skills.
Year 7 classroom support at The Bishops' Stortford High School (2024-09 – 2025-07)
When starting sixth form, I was given the opportunity to provide classroom support to year 7 classes. This has since evolved into me supporting both English and guided reading classes three times a fortnight. Doing this has taught me both leadership skills and patience, as well as helping me develop my communication skills, especially when dealing with students that face challenges.
