I am a highly qualified bilingual architect and urban designer with a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism, and an MSc in Computer Aided Design. I have strong interpersonal skills and extensive experience in architectural and urban design both academically and practically. My previous academic experience has included working with undergraduate students in Libya focusing on performance-related feedback, and constant improvement within the academic unit at Al-Mergib University / Libya, and has also involved lecturing postgraduate students at the University of Strathclyde as a Research Assistant.
In this role I was involved in three major projects regarding architecture and urban design. I have also worked as a freelancer and designed a number of houses, and comprehensive resort projects on the Mediterranean Sea.
My experience at both the University of Strathclyde and Al-Mergib University, focused primarily on architecture and urbanism. I have a particular interest in the historical evolution of morphological transformation and building typology at both local and world-wide l scale, where culminated by publishing a number of articles in well-know journals in the field of architecture and urbanism. Recently I have conducted a number of investigations in relation to the urban essence of places, districts and neighbourhoods, in several national and international cities as a part of research projects that were granted from various organisations.
My most relevant teaching experience has refined a critical eye that contributed largely in developing programmes and curriculum as well as applying advanced methods in teaching. The teaching experience has also provided me with a strong background to develop appropriate assessments to under graduate courses. By giving students substantial support and supervision and delivering unique designing programmes and challenging ideas I helped students to develop their creativity and designing skills in a coherent process.
In top of that my practical experience as architect and urban designer generates my skills in understanding the morphological change and growth of any urban forms at different scales. Also, my most recent experience boosts my knowledge in interpreting the relationship between social activities and physical built environment in order to maintain better standards for designing future sustainable urban form.
