Investigative Police Officer within the Safeguarding Department
My main responsibilities were to conduct thorough and professional investigations into high risk and complex crimes, whilst ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of victims and vulnerable individuals remained at forefront of decision making.
This role involved managing investigations from reports being made all the way to its conclusion, assessing all evidence and information provided, identifying investigative opportunities and ensuring that all reasonable lines of enquiries were pursued.
Safeguarding is central to the role as it required me to identify and assess risk and take appropriate action to protect vulnerable individuals from further harm. This sometimes required me to adopt a multi-agency approach when appropriate, including sharing information and contributing to safeguarding measures. As well as investigating these crimes, it also involved managing a demanding and varied workload and often meant dealing with multiple investigations simultaneously.
