Science Technician | Biomedical/Clinical Sciences Specialist
A highly skilled and detail-oriented Science Technician with a strong background in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, and cell signaling. Equipped with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and extensive hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, including cell culture, Western blotting, FACS, CRISPR-Cas9, and immunohistology staining. Proven ability to manage complex laboratory workflows, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Adept at troubleshooting technical issues, supporting research projects, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Seeking to leverage my technical expertise and analytical skills to contribute to a dynamic laboratory environment.
Science Technician (Voluntary/Part-time Role) - University of Strathclyde - Glasgow, UK
I supported students in developing practical laboratory skills by guiding them through the preparation of accurate serial dilutions, ensuring they understood measurement techniques, concentration calculations, and safe handling of reagents. I demonstrated how to prepare and mount slides for both histology and botany, teaching proper specimen sectioning, staining, and microscope handling to obtain clear observations of tissues and plant structures. Additionally, I trained students to calculate cell counts from suspensions using a haemocytometer slide grid, explaining how to apply counting rules and perform the necessary calculations to determine cell concentration accurately.
In addition, I have practical experience working in accordance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations. I carried out risk assessments, ensured proper labelling and storage of chemicals, maintained up-to-date safety data sheet (SDS) records, and implemented appropriate control measures such as the use of PPE and safe disposal procedures. I actively promoted safe laboratory practices, ensuring all activities complied with health and safety policies to maintain a secure learning environ
