My name is Ajvi Allmuca (Ajvi is pronounced as the English name "Ivy" or “EYE-vee). Recently qualified Part 1 Architectural Assistant.
I have a keen interest in exploring the way architecture can reshape the landscape and how the relationship between the circulation space versus the rest of the design space can dictate the shape of the construction. I think this can be seen clearly through my projects, but more specifically the “College for Astronauts” y2 sem2 and “Landscape House”y3 sem3, enclosed in my portfolio.
My experience and education to date has given me a strong understanding of the importance of place and context within a project as well as an interest in the sustainable side of modern architecture. I believe architecture is about ideas and about communication. It is dictated by the sort of relationships people have with their way of living and interacting with the world. When a design is able to convey that relationship in a way that is special and new I feel I am making architecture.
To further my architectural education I am looking to start work as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant in London. I am excited to learn more as part of a studio and I'm looking forward to the new opportunities presented.
As part of my undergraduate course I did 1 week work experience with Gollifer Langston Architects, London, Uk. I completed and rendered a digital 3d site model using Rhino and made a short clip of it for presentations.
I took part in the RIBA Mentoring program with Rachael Davidson from HUT Architects where I participated in meetings with clients and architects as well as discussed the different RIBA stages of the projects HUT Architects was working on.
In collaboration with students studying medicine I took part in a Co-production Workshop. Together we came up with a program to help redesign healthcare spaces, specifically a new proposal for a Paediatric Hospital.
For a year I held a Site Diary of the 21 Moorfields project: Moorgate, Finsbury, London, EC2M6TX by WilkinsonEyre Architects. I took detailed notes on account to all the RIBA stage developments as well as interviews several worker on the project, including site engineers and site consultants.
