Dear Hiring Officer,

I am an Indian lawyer who attended New York University School of Law and received an L.L.M. in Corporations in May 2023. I am interested in applying for a position of a corporate lawyer with you because I believe that my international training and academic performance will enable me to make valuable contributions at your firm.

I received a combined B.B.A./L.L.B. from Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, India, where I graduated with honors as one of the top ten students in my batch. My academic coursework concentrated on the areas of corporate law. In addition to my academic record, I interned at an Indian NGO called Mahita, where I had an opportunity to teach young girls of their rights and helped them in developing leadership skills.

I perceive this experience as a means of supplementary learning and a chance to impact and encourage professional development in the youth. After law school, I worked as a legal counsel at SHV Energy Pvt. Ltd., wherein I handled statutory and regulatory compliances of the company, while simultaneously assisting in the company's M&A dealings, real estate and arbitration disputes.

Further, I have worked in the company’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC),wherein I have handled cases of gender discrimination and other issues faced by women positioned in the companies plants/terminals. Additionally, I have also assisted in the company’s acquisitions, contract drafting & negotiations. These experiences provided me insight into the fast-paced nature of corporate practice, while also educating and motivating me to work towards making a difference for the development of women.

I believe today’s world is run by huge corporations, thus, I wish to focus on being a successful corporate lawyer, while also contributing to the advancement of women. I am confident that with sincere passion and honesty I will be able to accord your expectations.

At NYU, my coursework included Mergers & Acquisitions, Contracts, Secured Transactions, Int’l Investment Law & Arbitration, Corporations and Int’l Business Transactions, which I believe complement my B.B.A/L.L.B. studies and practical experience. Further, I engaged as an L.L.M. Representative at the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA) and as a member of the Alumni Relations Committee (ARC) of NYU’s Student Government Assembly.

I believe these experiences surely helped me enhance my skills as a legal professional.
