After leaving school I was fortunate enough to gain an apprenticeship as an interior plasterer. Unfortunately my apprenticeship came to an end after a year due to the company going bust. I knew straight away I had to show great work ethic to sustain a job in a different field as the construction industry came to a grinding halt due to the number of earthquakes in the area.

I was luckily enough to gain employment within short period of time working for a traffic management company. During my time with the company I worked to the highest standard possible completing all relevant qualifications which in turn allowed me to progress through the ranks and in the end I was managing a large team of civil engineers and geotechnical surveyors assessing and repairing the Christchurch infrastructure. Upon my returning to Scotland I had been working with the farm park in their opening seasons and I showed them how driven and hardworking I was they invited me back each season to work.

Each season I was given more responsibility which allowed me to broaden my skills with in customer service. During the winter hours I got a contract with a labouring company. This is where I learned a wide range of health and safety at work and working with a wide range of machinery getting the job done in tight timescales and to a high standard.

I got a 2 year work permit to go back to New Zealand where I gained different skills and experience on sites such as bricklaying before gaining full time employment with an engineer company but unfortunately my work permit came to an end and I decided to come home to Scotland and settle down and find sustainable employment.

Factory Worker/Packer - We Hae Meat

(2019-01 - 2019-06)

Working within production and packing team I was involved in the preparation, production, storage, packing and dispatch of products. My role involved all aspects of product preparation including raw material handling, weighing and measuring, safe machine operation, cleaning.

Site Worker - Takanni Engineering

(2017-05 - 2018-11)

• Learning how to weld and fabrication, I learned a great deal of knowledge about welding
• Main job role was site work where I helped with the installation of heavy steel and sheet metal
• Heavy lifting which had to be done under tight health and safety legislation so that not only I was safe but other workers round about me were also
• Working to tight deadlines I had to prioritise my work load making sure targets were being met

Labourer - Bailey Brick & Blocks-NZ

Learning how to lay bricks, make mixes and envision what we were building so that the job was done to the highest standard.

Workshop Labourer - Trampoline and Swing Factory-Ayr, UK

(2016-11 - 2016-12)

• Main duties were the maintenance of climbing and trampoline frames and preparation of steel pipes for fabrication
• Due to having knowledge about welding I was able to assist with the welding jobs and building of the outdoor play structures with playzone ltd and then installing them on site assistant - Waste management

(2016-06 - 2016-10)

• Started off as a litter picker on race days
• Soon offered part time work helping run the waste management for all events within the race course including the hotel
• Job roles mainly included supervising staff and aligning duties to make sure there was no over flow of waste or and the safety of the public and staff was met at all times

Homesmart Ltd-Ayr, UK

(2015-11 - 2016-05)

• Worked with home smart in between working from the farm park
• Assisted the main building contractors with the builds of council houses
• Roles included framing and dismantling walls, carpentry work and building of kitchens

• Running outdoor amusements, park maintenance and cleaning
• Making sure visitors and staff were cared for, assisting with animal handling and care
• Put myself forward to carry out any tasks or cover work needed doing

(2009 - 2012)

• In between two recruitments helping after the earthquakes
• Rebuilding homes, plastering, managing a large team, prioritising jobs, delegating tasks, temping work, traffic management and all site labouring duties
• Adhering to health and safety and carrying out risk assessments for the forthcoming projects
