I graduated The University of Sunderland completing BA (Hons) in Glass and Ceramics. I completed my PGCE in Secondary Education Art and Design at Bishops Grosseteste University. I have my own business working primarily in mainly fused glass.
I have built a website to show my blown glass work, along with social media being linked in to promote new exhibits. During my BA(Hons) I was a team leader. I had to arrange a timetable in the workshop together with encouraging teamwork and adherence to the Health and Safety policy.
Currently I work at a Catholic School as an Art Supply Teacher. I teach Art and Media Lessons, making sure students are engaged in the content and it follows the scheme of work set by the head of the department. I make sure all students have access to the materials regardless of whether they have access at home or not.
In my last position, I planned and taught all age groups from 11-16 in Art. I also had a tutor group where I completed the morning tasks and any notices that students need informing of. I ran two clubs, One being a Key Stage 3 Club where students are introduced to different materials not necessarily accessible within the curriculum.
I also ran study and support sessions for year 11 who currently take art, in this session they have access to me and the materials they may need to complete any work they cannot complete at home. This session was to encourage students to complete more work independently outside of lesson.
During my art lessons I use the scheme of learning to plan, creating a link to all previous learning within each lesson by completing a retrieval task, making sure to encourage students by using the reward points. I use the behavioural policy to make sure the students understand the rules in the classroom as well as the rewards for positive behaviour and good work. The emphasis on all groups of students before GCSE is to improve all the skills they have or will need to complete GCSE Art and Design with confidence in their own skills.
I hold good IT skills including Microsoft products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Computer Assisted Drawing Software, Adobe Software, Photoshop, Illustrator in Design and Rhino Software.
