A hardworking individual who is determined to succeed at whichever task has been set. I am confident when working alone but also enjoy working in a team and forming positive bonds with those around me as we help each other achieve our goals. I am also very driven to learn and improve, and I go into each new challenge with full intent to do the best I can.
Restaurant all-rounder at Polhill Garden Centre
Having worked at Polhill for almost two years, I have developed and refined some of the skills I learned at Nando's while working in the kitchen of the restaurant. These include delivering high quality food products quickly, safely and appealingly while maintaining a clean workspace. Additionally, I have picked up lots of new skills while operating in the front of house area.
I have greeted customers warmly and talked them through the necessary steps to ensure a pleasant experience. I have served customers on the till and become confident in handling cash and card payments. I have delivered food and drink to tables, cleaned tables down thoroughly after customers left and have experience cleaning the dishes.
I have worked in all areas of the restaurant, developing a deeper understanding of general hospitality functioning and the importance each section plays in the running of a successful business. However, the most enjoyable and for me the proudest skill I have gained from my time at Polhill, is learning how to do latte art when working as a barista. When I first started I found it challenging and so, I am proud that I can now consistently create a variety of patterns when making coffees, to help put a smile on the faces of satisfied customers.
Alongside making coffees, my barista duties also included serving cakes, teas and a variety of cold drinks on what was often the busiest section in the restaurant. I am composed under the pressure of situations like this and, working with my team members, could confidently handle providing a great barista service to a remarkably busy restaurant which in its busiest periods would have all 80+ tables occupied, often with a substantial queue at the door.
Back of House at Nandos
During my time working in the kitchen at Nandos, I learnt to ensure customers are satisfied with my work; for example preparing dishes as quickly as possible, adapting or remaking dishes when requested and presenting food appetisingly. I was also trained to keep a clean and tidy workspace. Another useful skill I picked up from Nandos is the ability to perform well under pressure during peak hours and maintain high standards despite an increase in demand.
I have spent just under 2 years working as a lettings assistant at TWGSB sports centre, my time in this role has helped me learn how to handle responsibilities alone when required, while also forming a strong team with my colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained.
I have completed the level 7 FA refereeing course. Completing this course helped me improve my confidence, leadership and teamwork.
Work Experience Volunteer at School
Volunteered for a week at a primary school as work experience, where I learnt group management skills and developed my ability to work with children.
