I am a Royal Navy veteran and Smart Meter Engineer with extensive experience operating in safety-critical maritime and technical environments. My background combines offshore operations, engineering maintenance and electrical fault-finding, developed through nearly a decade of military service and my current role within the utilities sector.
During my naval career, I was responsible for the maintenance and operational readiness of life-saving equipment onboard a warship, developing expertise in preventative maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis and emergency response. My maritime experience includes small boat operations, maritime patrols, search and rescue, personnel transfer and vessel readiness activities.
As a Smart Meter Engineer, I hold MOCOPA authorisation and regularly undertake fault diagnosis, risk assessment and electrical safety procedures while working independently within regulated environments.
I hold a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, an NVQ in Engineering Operations and a range of military and technical qualifications. I am particularly interested in opportunities within offshore, maritime, engineering and renewable energy sectors where I can apply my technical, operational and leadership experience.
I welcome connections with professionals across offshore, engineering, utilities, maritime and renewable energy industries.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience across engineering, maritime operations, technical maintenance and safety-critical environments.
As a Smart Meter Engineer, I work independently installing, maintaining and diagnosing gas and electric metering systems while adhering to strict industry regulations, safety standards and performance targets. This role has strengthened my electrical fault-finding, problem-solving, risk assessment and customer service skills within a regulated utilities environment.
During nearly a decade of service in the Royal Navy, I specialised in maritime operations, sea survival equipment maintenance and small boat operations. I was responsible for the inspection, testing, servicing and operational readiness of life-saving equipment, ensuring personnel safety and compliance with stringent operational standards.
My offshore and maritime experience includes operating and maintaining small vessels, conducting maritime security patrols, personnel transfers, search and rescue operations, man overboard response, force protection tasks and emergency response activities. These roles required effective decision-making, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure while working in challenging and often unpredictable environments.
I also qualified as a Sea Boat Coxswain and Instructor, responsible for training and mentoring personnel, planning practical exercises and ensuring safe vessel operations. Alongside this, I regularly coordinated maintenance schedules, equipment inspections and operational readiness checks to ensure assets were prepared for immediate deployment.
Across both military and civilian careers, I have consistently worked within safety-critical environments where attention to detail, procedural compliance, teamwork and personal accountability are essential to achieving successful outcomes.
