Alexander Jacques

I am currently in my final year at university studying Business Management with Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Trent University, currently working at a 2:1. I have always been interested in working in a financial role involving the financial markets.

Studying Accounting and Finance at university, I have gained a wealth of knowledge surrounding the financial markets. As well as, gaining advanced problem solving and numeracy skills to effectively analyse and interpret complex data. Throughout my studies I have become efficient in using programmes such as Excel, in my Accounting and Finance for Managers module I achieved a low 1st on my coursework involving creating a financial report.

I have applied these skills outside of university studies and into my own interest of stock trading, I have made informed investments. Using the skills gained from university studies, I have made investments that have doubled my original investment. I have also achieved a certification in Bloomberg Market Concepts, which I seek to apply within my career as a stockbroker.

I feel that I have excellent communication skills, working as a Team Leader for UPP for 2 years. I had to effectively communicate the co-ordinators demands for my team of up to 8 people. Whilst also providing feedback in a positive manner to motivate and encourage my team. I am also currently volunteering with My Sight Nottinghamshire, where I volunteer on the reception desk managing the phone lines and represent the face of the organisation communicating with clients.

For the past two years I have worked as a temporary team leader supervising deep cleaning operatives, cleaning and preparing student accommodations for the following academic year. Key responsibilities include: training new staff to deep clean at a high quality and quick pace, provide feedback on my teams performance in a positive manner, and take responsibility for the speed and quality of my team. I was promoted from deep cleaning operative to team leader due to my high quality and effective work, as well as my excellent communication skills with my co-workers.

Currently in final year at NTU studying Business Management and Accounting and Finance. Predicted a 2.1.
