HGV Driver at Devon Fuels (2024-11 – 2026-07)
Hired after ending role as a prison officer in Kent, driving a small 12 tonne tanker delivering to domestics and agricultural sites around Devon and Cornwall. Inducted into Connoco/Greenergy and Vallero. Enjoy this work and the variation in scenery it brings as well as balance of work in and out of the cab.
Prison Officer at HMPPS (2024-01 – 2024-10)
Joined HMPPS as a prison officer on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent. Was proud of time in this role and showed promise but sadly due to a relationship breakdown and financial pressures preventing finding affordable accommodation, returned to Devon to live with family and return to Driving HGV.
Loader / HGV Driver at Viridor Waste Management (2018-05 – 2024-01)
Joined as a loader assisting a Trade waste truck servicing Plymouth city centre on the depots busiest round. After gaining sufficient experience, attained HGV2 and eventually took over the busy round when the previous driver retired. Was initially a shock as a new driver but settled into the role fast and reliably provided cover for 75% of the trade team due to area knowledge and positive attitude to undertake challenges.
Drove 26t rear end loaders and skip trucks throughout tenure. Company was bought out by Biffa in 2022.
Forklift Operative and General Worker at Backline Logistic Services (2015-01 – 2020-03)
Worked on and off as a forklift operative and general worker. Main role was performing Forklift duties on the yards of Travis Perkins, Keyline and Bradford's builder's merchants. Responsible for the clearance and upkeep of the yard and handling customers' orders and picking products for deliveries via HIAB trucks. Final 18 months at Backline were in a longterm position with Viridor before they could hire directly from Backline.
