Alisa Bodman

I am an extremely motivated individual, and I am currently studying a HND in agriculture, I grew up with a farming background, so I have always been surrounded by different aspects of the agricultural industry. Working in this industry has always been something I have enjoyed and I'm always happy to lend a hand to anyone who needs it whether that be at home or on a friend's farm. I am a hardworking individual and I'm perfectly happy to try my hand at anything, I am a sociable and adaptable person, and my time management is impeccable meaning all tasks are completed on time, I am proficient working in a team but also work well independently.

I have a friendly attitude and I'm looking forward to developing my skills further in this area of work.

Dog handler - Brumley Brae

• I had to clean dog and cat kennels.
• I had to exercise the dogs by taking them out on walks.
• I also tended to other general cleaning duties.

Factory operative - Walkers Shortbread

(2023-05 - 2023-08)

• I worked on a production line with lots of other people to pack shortbread in a timely manner so it could be sent out to the consumers.
• I also was required to carry out various cleaning tasks around the factory.

Lambing & calving - Millhouse farm, Sanday, Orkney - Sanday, Orkney

(2024-03 - 2024-04)

• I was given the opportunity to assist with lambing, calving and general farmwork up in Orkney, during my time up there I had to monitor the pregnant ewes and the cows/heifers and assist them during birth if there were any complications. I also carried out general tasks round the farm including feeding the cattle and the sheep, I also helped with building lambing pens and jagging some of the ewes. When I wasn't working with the livestock, I would be carrying out general tractor work such as sprea
• Whilst on this work experience, I felt I developed my ability to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly in unexpected situations, along with developing my time management as I quite often had to manage a busy schedule.

Lambing - Butler family farm, Ballyvoy, Northern Ireland - Ballyvoy, Northern Ireland

• I spent two weeks away in Northern Ireland assisting a family farm with laming duties, my roles consisted of bedding, feeding and watering ewes, tube feeding lambs, assisting ewes with any complicated births, checking the welfare of both ewes and lambs and moving lambs and ewes out to the fields once the lambs were strong enough.
• From this experience I felt I developed my problem solving and decision making as I was often placed in positions in which quick decision making was required especially when there was birthing complications with the ewe or with the care of newborn lambs.
• I also further developed my animal handling and restraint skills, ensuring safe management of the ewes and lambs.
• I was also required to collaborate with the lambing team to manage a busy lambing season, demonstrating strong teamwork and time management skills.
