Alison Griffith

My career within education began back in 1999 when I became the first black female president at University in Southampton. An elected role I held for two years and led me to forge a career in pastoral and welfare care for students and young people, particularly in secondary schools. My last role was Head of Year at Harris Academy Upper Norwood. After 4 years, I left to start a full time MA in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University. I am just beginning my second and final year of the course after which I hope to be a children and young persons psychotherapist.

In my most recent role as Head of Year my key responsibilities were

• Liaising with teachers and ALG in taking the lead to support academic progress and welfare of Yr group.
• Developing and supporting teams of tutors 
• Liaising with key staff including SENCO and AP regarding all groups of students.
• Supporting staff who experienced disruptive student behaviour.
• First point of contact for parents, families and external agencies including Social Services and Place2Be.
