I undertook a training programme with “Pretty Sharp” for their Cowdenbeath salon. Since completion of my training, I was given a “0” hour contract as a nail technician within the salon. Whilst I was still at school up until June 2026, i undertook the training and worked in the salon outside of school hours.

In conjunction with the previous noted employment with “Pretty Sharp”, I also wish to note that I first set up my own nail and make up beauty business at the age of 14.5, working casually out with school hours for 1.5 years before I joined “Pretty Sharp” at the age of 16. I advertised my services on social media where I was either taking appointments at home or providing a mobile service. This became very successful where I had extensive waiting lists and I had to often turn away new clients due to not having enough time to fit in with my other commitments.

I ran this business up until the point in time where I joined the “Pretty Sharp” salon at the age of 16 to undergo their training programme and then work in the salon. Despite my previous experience from running my own casual business through social media and self-learning, “Pretty Sharp” insisted on placing me through their recognised training programme, which at the time I viewed as an opportunity to expand my skills further. Due to my previous success with my own business between the age of 14.5 and 16, and joining the “Pretty Sharp” salon at the age of 16 I had to agree to transfer my client base and social media to “Pretty

Part Time Volunteer - Benarty Community Centre - Ballingry, FIFE

The volunteering role requirements and working hours would vary however the role entailed assisting and coordinating visitors / customers, coordinating and setting up for events and activities, supporting children’s activities and youth programmes, stacking shelves, managing stock rooms and storage rooms / cupboards, collecting cash and assisting with treasury work as well as cleaning.

I shared personal care responsibilities with other family members for the essential care and wellbeing of a disabled family member. The required care covered cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene and shopping. The care requirements stopped due to a necessary change in living accommodation at an alternative location with alternative care arrangements being put in place, where my assistance was no longer required or possible.
