Retail Assistant - Primark Gloucester - Gloucester

During my time at Primark in Gloucester from April to August 2024, I worked flexibly across a range of shifts, including replenishment, tills, and customer service. My role involved maintaining store presentation by restocking and organizing merchandise, assisting customers with queries, and processing transactions efficiently. This experience strengthened my ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment, adapt to changing tasks, and deliver excellent customer service as part of a team.

Voluntary Assistant - Specsavers

From the 24th to the 28th of March, I completed a week of work experience at Specsavers. During this time, I observed eye examinations, assisted with dispensing, and supported the team with a range of day-to-day tasks. This gave me valuable insight into providing excellent customer care in an optical retail environment.

I developed strong communication and interpersonal skills by interacting with customers, learned the importance of accuracy and attention to detail when assisting with eyewear, and gained experience working as part of a busy team. The placement also improved my confidence, time management, and ability to remain professional, approachable, and organised while delivering a positive customer experience.

Henna Business Owner - Self-Employed

Through having my own personal business, I can effectively manage social media, money, time and budgets. This demonstrates my entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic, as well as the ability to manage several responsibilities. Through this business, I developed customer service skills which display my excellent communication and ability to manage customer problems efficiently.

This proves my ability to handle tasks independently whilst also delivering quality results. This hands on experience has allowed me to be adaptable and well prepared to contribute to a work environment.

Voluntary Teaching Assistant - Al-Ashraf Primary School

I supported children with their learning as directed by the class teacher. Through modelling in a clear and effective way, I was able to keep calm under pressure, and handle unexpected challenges. All these skills enhance my ability to work in a team, manage time efficiently, and approach problem solving with empathy. I am able to work with a variety of different people including a range of ages, effectively.

Participant - 10X Business Challenge - Young Enterprise

As part of the GCSE Business Studies course, I took part in the Young Enterprise 10X Challenge. This included creating, promoting and advertising a business initiative with a £10 budget. I set up a bracelet business which showcased my entrepreneurial mindset and professional character.

By taking on tasks such as product planning, designing and promotional advertising, I demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking. This experience allowed me to engage with customers, solve problems, budget, plan effective marketing strategies and manage resources, thus proving my professional character.
