Working in hospitality has given me an insight on how people operate. I know what I need to do to make customers happy. This is relayed in the several reviews I have been mentioned by name in. My happy, polite, outgoing personality is the reason why I am well liked by customers and I would surely be an asset to a customer service based environment.
Head Waitress at Six By Nico-Belfast (2021-10 – Present)
Six by Nico is a fast paced restaurant where my main role was to manage a section of fourteen tables. An important part of this role was to take orders and allergen awareness. However the main purpose of Six By Nico is the six course tasting menu experience, the menu would change every six weeks to a different theme such as The Chippie, Tokyo and Once Upon A Time.
Along with the tasting menu there are extra features guests can add on the enhance the experience, wine pairings, aperitifs and snacks which would all change when the menu changed. Each menu change staff would have a mandatory training day and would taste the food and wine. The food would be explained by the head chef and a sommelier would come in to explain how the wines would pair with each course.
This training helps staff understand what the important elements of the menu are, whether we should focus on the stories behind the courses or the way the food is presented.
Waitress/Bar Staff at The Giddy Goose-Dundee (2024-10 – 2026-03)
Working in areas like bartending (pouring pints and sometimes making cocktails) while also waitressing and making coffees during the day . This has also given me skills with cash as we had to do cash up every night after close. I have gained more cleaning skills since working here because we would clean the bathrooms everyday as there is no separate cleaner.
I felt a lot more responsible in this position because we would often work alone for several hours and close without a manager being on shift, which is a new and interesting experience. However I am glad for the responsibility.
Barista at YMCA-Sydney NSW (2024-01 – 2024-07)
Working in a YMCA leisure centre in Australia gave me amazing skills and experience with new situations. I started working in the cafe making coffee, then I was given the opportunity to work in the crèche as well. This experience in the crèche was something new however I learned a lot and had a great time with the children I was taking care of.
When working in a leisure centre like this you grow relationships with everybody- staff and customers. While working there I couldn't help but always have a positive attitude and I couldn't wait to go into work and see everyone.
