Amy Ma

I have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Arts. With my background graduating from University of Bath in Civil Engineering and 2+ year work experience as a graduate structural engineer, I have deeply developed an appreciation and eye for design and construction, with a passion to pursue design further. I am confident, with my experiences, in combining inventiveness with practicalities to contribute to an ever-changing world within the industry.

As a graduate structural engineer I worked on large-scale commercial, residential buildings as well as warehousing industrial projects:

• Contributed to structural design calculations including retaining wall design, slab design and analysis (deflections), column and beam designs, portal frame design, rebar and reinforcement design
• Produced foundation and pile cap design calculations for Tender and Construction stages
• Constructed and analysed 3D Structural Stability Models on Robot Structural Analysis
• Attended site coordination meetings and liased with architects, contractors, electrical and mechanical engineers, co-ordinating through project deadlines
• Site visits, carrying out inspections on site progression of construction and ground conditions
• Prepared Structural Condition Survey Reports and Building Control Packs
• Organised CPD seminars for structural and civil engineering departments across HDR offices

I have graduated with a Distinction from a Postgraduate Diploma in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Arts.
