Love working with animals and people. Have several years experience with both. Take pride in my work and really passionate about helping people make memories. Fortunate to have worked with endangered animals ex-situ and in-situ.
I've been on the Ectotherm team at Chester Zoo for 4 years, and have lead on animal experiences for the section during this time, developing and delivering experiences for visitors based on conservation education. Very fortunate to have worked with many amazing species including komodo dragons. Main duties include daily routines of ensuring the highest levels of animal husbandry and welfare, record keeping, designing and maintaining habitats, following strict protocols and communicating at all levels.
Prior to being a keeper I was a Zoo Ranger from 2019 to 2021, responsible for delivering informal education using different methods of engagement, monitoring small mammals and invertebrates, and assisting in external programmes such as Forest School, junior rangers, Memory Cafe and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
From 2013 to 2019 I owned my own small bespoke bakery business and before that I help several roles in retail including merchandising.
I returned to study Zoo Management as a mature student at Reaseheath University where I gained a Foundation Degree with a Distinction.
