I am currently in the very final stages of completing my PhD in Applied Mathematics, specifically Fluid Mechanics. I will be submitting my thesis on the 30th of September 2023 and completing my viva in the month or two that follow (depending on the availability of my examiners). I have studied many aspects of fluid flow in my PhD, with a specialisation in applying analytical, asymptotic and numerical mathematical methods to model the flow of thin films of fluid.
Thin films of fluid are ubiquitous in nature and industry, for example, large scale flows of mud, slurry, lava and rivers, to small scale flows such as ink in inkjet printers, coolants in heat exchangers, and microfluidic computer chips. Specifically, my research includes modelling of the interaction of thin films of fluid and airflows, the flow of fluid through permeable materials and the evaporation of fluids on heated or non-heated substrates.
