Hi! I am about to complete my Master’s in Biotechnology at the University of Portsmouth. Among the many courses I took, two stand out: Molecular Biotechnology and Biotechnology Enterprise.
Molecular Biotechnology deepened my understanding of proteins, which I applied in my final Master’s project. There, I prepared, purified, and studied nitrile hydratase, investigating its potential role in degrading nitriles into amides. This could contribute to the circular economy and help reduce waste.
Biotechnology Enterprise, on the other hand, taught me how to translate scientific knowledge into industry applications and understand how biotech companies operate. As part of a team project, we developed a conceptual company with intellectual property focused on converting bread waste (the UK’s second-largest food waste) into sustainable fabrics.
I am passionate about shaping biotechnology into solutions that benefit both people and the planet. In short, I am eager to take the next step and finding a role where I can contribute, grow, and finally step into the world of work as a full-fledged professional.
