A UK qualified Mental Health nurse. With a passion to work in the Middle-East. I had a background as a Dentist and added another profession.
I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse with comprehensive experience across inpatient and community mental health settings. My background includes working in acute wards, Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU), community-based services, and specialized teams, such as memory and liaison teams. I am skilled in patient assessment, care planning, risk management, and therapeutic interventions, consistently delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
In acute inpatient and PICU settings, I have managed admissions and discharges, conducted risk assessments, and employed de-escalation techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. My training in managing aggression and violence, alongside experience in medication management and digital documentation, has prepared me to handle complex mental health needs efficiently.
In community settings, including home-based treatment and memory services, I provided individualized care that promoted autonomy and recovery. I worked within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, and family members to create holistic care plans that facilitate patient recovery and reintegration into the community.
My experience with mental health legislation, including Sections 2, 3, and 17 of the Mental Health Act, has equipped me to advocate effectively for patients’ rights and work within legal frameworks. I am committed to promoting inclusivity, compassionate care, and professional growth, bringing a proactive approach to every role I undertake.
I began my healthcare career as a Dentist, obtaining my Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. This rigorous program gave me a strong foundation in medical sciences, patient assessment, and diagnostic skills, as well as an understanding of comprehensive patient care. My clinical experience as a dentist honed my ability to work with diverse patient needs, practice precise clinical documentation, and communicate effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Building on this foundation, I later pursued a career shift to mental health nursing, completing my MSc in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Huddersfield in the UK. This program equipped me with the theoretical and practical knowledge specific to mental health, including psychiatric assessment, care planning, risk management, and therapeutic interventions. My dual background in dental and mental health care has enriched my understanding of holistic patient care and strengthened my versatility in providing high-quality, empathetic healthcare.
