Summer Internship at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, STFC, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (2025-06 – 2025-09)
- Worked as part of the Disordered Materials Group to develop and automate a simulation package to model the vapour deposition of water molecules and the subsequent formation of Amorphous Solid Water (ASW).
- Improved skills with Python, Bash and Linux, and learned how to use GROMACS and Dissolve for the simulations.
- Wrote a user guide to allow other users to understand the package, leading to the package being published on the Disordered Materials GitHub page. Improved scientific communication skills in doing so.
Lifeguard at GLL Better Leisure (2024-02 – 2024-11)
- Worked with a team of lifeguards to maintain safety of customers, cleanliness of facilities and clarity of operations across multiple sites across York.
- Communicated with receptionists and leisure coaches to help organise and deliver fitness and recreation sessions both in and out of the pool.
- Ensured that facilities are secure and safe at the end of every day.
- Directed and advised customers on when and where activities are happening, and what sessions would be most appropriate for them.
Activity Leader and Lifeguard at Barracudas Activity Day Camps (2022-01 – 2025-12)
- Delivered a variety of activities to young people aged 4-15, including sports, arts and crafts and team building over Easter and Summer holidays in 2022-2024, and Easter holidays in 2025.
- Maintained the cleanliness and upkeep of the swimming pool, buoyancy aids and recreational equipment.
- Worked within a team of other leaders to ensure that young people were looked after and safe, including coordinating a rescue of a struggling young person from the pool.
- Engaged with young people to ensure they were enjoying themselves and were comfortable, building genuine connections.
Receptionist at Jennifer Grace Music and Vocal Academy (2020-01 – 2022-12)
- Coordinated and controlled the teachers and students to ensure that everyone was aware when and where their music lessons were.
- Provided a point of call for all staff and students if they had any problems or queries regarding the academy.
- Oversaw the extension of the academy into a new venue and helped with the creation of new performance and teaching space.
- Pioneered new performance evenings for students to showcase the skills they'd learned in lessons.
