I am an ambitious individual, who at a young age has experienced a lot of different sectors, all with a similar theme running through, namely customer service and relationship building – even in my hobbies and interests. I have had employment since the age of 16, with my experiences lending themselves to a future career within the sales/retail sector. This is where I can engage my proven customer, client and interpersonal relationship skills and contribute to the success and objectives of the organisation I work for.
Client Handler - Preston Insurance Brokers

An opportunity arose to consider an interest in the insurance industry, following a couple job opportunities that were presented to me. This was working initially as a Trainee Client Handler, to eventually looking after my own book of Clients. The insurance placed was for commercial/business only, a mix of trades and occupations, size and types.
I am responsible for the annual renewal of my Clients' policies, which involves getting to know each business inside out and identifying the risks each business is exposed to, with subsequent recommendation of the insurance products they can purchase to protect their business. I also help on obtaining quotes for new business and cross-sell appropriate and applicable policies to both my existing and prospective Clients. The part of the role I enjoy the most is the building of the relationship with the Client, getting to know them personally and the ins and outs of their business.

Dental Nurse Trainee - Elms Lea Dental Care

This job allowed me to transfer some of the customer service skills I had learned through other part-time roles, in particular at the Clinic. I had a keen interest in considering dental nursing as a step to becoming a hygienist for a future career. I helped set up and sterilise dental rooms for patient consultations and procedures and amended/updated dental charts during check-ups.
Swabber / Administrator (part-time) - The Regenerative Clinic Brighton

This business started during Covid-19 and was across the road from the Post Office near to where I live. I was asked to help on a shift pattern basis swabbing customers for Covid-19 tests, largely for travel purposes and clearance. Each day was exceptionally busy, at its peak the Clinic was seeing up to 900 patients a day, working in quite a high intensity and demanding environment.
The customer relations in this particular job required a high level of diplomacy and calmness as customers were quite often stressed or had time critical requirements due to travelling.
Front Till Clerk (part-time) - Hollingbury Post Office

A friend, who was a long time employee of the Post Office, recommended me for Sunday shifts which they required filling. The Hollingbury Post Office being just up the road from where I live. It was a nice opportunity to meet the local community and the job included the following;
Bar Staff (part-time & volunteer) - St Peter's Cricket Club

Following experience gained at both Sussex CCC and The Hove Club, I was asked to help out behind the bar at the local cricket club. This is very much an ongoing part-time role, helping the Club staff the bar as and when needed throughout the season and for private events through the winter. Whilst working here I have again enjoyed building some great relationships with the local community, business owners and their families who play at the club.

I was recommended to the prestigious Hove Club by someone I worked with at Sussex CCC, as they needed some part time summer help behind their Private Members Bar. In this role I got to meet and build relationships with a wide variety of personalities and local business people and this was also my first experience of upselling products (such as a higher grade of wine or champagne).

My role at Fizz involved working within a Team to make sure customers items were properly packaged and labelled and to ensure both customers and retailers received their goods on time and safely without damage.
Bar Staff (part-time) - Sussex CCC

Worked with a Team behind a corporate bar, making sure there was always a supply of drinks available for the members of the Team on the till serving the customers. This was both at Championship and T20 matches, the T20 matches being particularly busy so needed to ensure the queues for the drinks were kept to a minimum, allowing the bar staff to operate efficiently and deliver a positive customer experience so they could enjoy the cricket.

I was offered the opportunity to have some work experience by a family friend in a professional sector I was interested in at the time. This provided some invaluable experience of working within a professional environment and working in an office. I also had the chance to spend a day in a Magistrates Court and learned about various legal procedures.
