Certified by SAVE International (VMA) and as a Professional Value Analyst, I work from function rather than price: breaking assemblies into functional building blocks, costing each function, and challenging whether the current architecture is the best way to deliver it. Currently lead propulsion value engineering at JLR across electric drive units, e-machines, power electronics and transmission.

Earlier work covers rail braking, high-voltage switchgear and construction equipment, including safety-critical and standards-constrained assemblies. I facilitate cross-functional VA/VE workshops, coach teams in value methodology, and have built AI tools that read drawings, CAD and PCB layouts to give directional cost at concept stage.

Senior Cost Improvement Engineer – Propulsion at JLR (JAGUAR LAND ROVER) (2025-10 – Present)

Scope: electric drive unit, e-machine, inverter and power transmission across ICE, MHEV, PHEV and BEV programmes.

• Leading value engineering on propulsion assemblies, testing whether the required function can be delivered by a simpler architecture, fewer parts or a different technology, informed by competitive teardown benchmarking of global competitor drive units.
• Break assemblies into functional building blocks and cost each function, separating value-adding content from cost that carries no customer benefit.
• Facilitate VA/VE workshops with design, manufacturing and purchasing engineering, challenging design assumptions and holding discussion to function rather than to the existing solution.
• Lead supplier value engineering sessions using teardown and should-cost evidence, then build the business case for each accepted idea and present the value position to Technical Directors and Cost Engineering leadership.

Senior Value Engineer – Chassis at JLR (JAGUAR LAND ROVER) (2023-02 – 2025-10)

Scope: Suspension System, Axles, Brakes, Steering System, wheels and tyres.

• Led value engineering across chassis systems - Suspension System, Axles, Brakes, Steering System, wheels and tyres.
• Applied function analysis and competitor teardown to propose alternative designs that held performance and compliance while removing cost.
• Facilitated cross-functional idea generation and carried selected ideas through evaluation, business case and management review.

Senior Engineer at John Deere India Pvt Ltd (2021-07 – 2023-02)

• Applied function analysis and design-to-cost across the construction equipment portfolio, contributing to multi-million-dollar value improvement.
• Facilitated idea generation workshops with design, manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, quality and marketing; evaluated ideas by feasibility ranking, weighted evaluation and paired comparison.
• Broke bills of material down with Pareto analysis and cost heat maps to locate the functions carrying disproportionate cost.

Design → Senior Design Engineer at Tata Technologies Ltd (2012-07 – 2021-06)

• Delivered value engineering, teardown benchmarking and reverse engineering for automotive, rail, high-voltage electrical and consumer product clients, using FAST diagrams and function-cost matrix to target cost without loss of function.
• Found design solutions through part integration, simplification and part-count reduction; selected cost-effective materials and processes across injection moulding, gravity and high-pressure die casting, sand casting, forging and fabrication.
• Coached and trained project teams in the value analysis and value engineering process.
• Two onsite UK assignments: Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems, Melksham (2018) and JLR Special Vehicle Operations, Leamington Spa (2020).
