• Serving customers dealing with their medical issues and queries
• Taking in and handing out prescriptions
• Cash handling
• Stock control
• Supporting the pharmacist with the delivery and record keeping of patient service (stop smoking schemes etc)
• Understand the strict standard operating procedures
• Collect the customers prescription from their doctor's surgery on their behalf and bringing it to the store ready for collection
• Receive and process prescriptions and requests for medicines
• Prepare, label and dispense medicines accurately according to the prescriptions and pharmacy procedures
• Check quantities, labels and medicine details, and report any discrepancy to the pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Prepare medicines for patients, including repeat prescriptions and, depending on the workplace, compliance aids
• Manage pharmacy stock – ordering, receiving, storing, rotating and checking expiry dates
• Carry out stock checks and stocktakes and report shortages or discrepancies
• Use pharmacy computer systems for dispensing, stock control and updating records
• Deal with patients and the public, answering routine queries and directing clinical/medicine - related questions to the pharmacist
• Answer telephone calls and carry out administrative duties, such as filing and maintaining documentation
