In February 2022, I gave up a highly successful 12 year Teaching career to begin training as an Accountant by self studying for AAT. Since then, in only 7 months, I have completed Level 3 and am awaiting the results (due 27 October 2022). Marks for my exams so far have ranged from 88% - 99%, with an unweighted average of 93%.
I chose to leave Teaching due to how both the profession and I had changed over time. A significant family bereavement in 2021 was the final push I needed to take on the new challenge of moving into Accountancy, which I had considered doing before I even entered the Teaching profession. I am self-studying, as I want to progress as quickly as possible into the world of finance and accountancy and am juggling a young family at the same time. My goal is to become a fully Chartered Accountant. Having completed Level 3, I recognise that I now also need to start gaining more relevant work experience. I am therefore looking to continue studying AAT Level 4 whilst working for a company to which I can bring my diligence, dedication and enthusiasm and from which I can directly learn on the job. I am quick to pick up new skills, as shown by the speed at which I have gained the above qualifications, and I would like to make a positive contribution to those in the workplace around me. Transferable skills, from my time in Teaching should help with this.
