Registered Adult Nurse, currently working in a faced paced surgical ward environment, providing compassionate, holistic and personalised care to patients. I am a very proactive nurse and use critical thinking, problem solving and evidence-based practice to promote best patient practice. I utilise active listening skills to ensure I understand my patients, optimising patient care.

• Provision of care to pre-operative and post operative patients – general surgery, vascular, orthopaedic and urology. 
• Monitor patient's vital observations, managing complications and escalating where appropriate. 
• Work in the Triage Unit, requiring effective decision making, critical thinking skills.
• Arrange diagnostic procedures promptly to promote patient flow and improve patient care. 
• Drug calculations / administration of medication, following the 6 rights of medication. 
• Undertake nursing interventions consistent with evidence-based practice, transferring and applying knowledge and skills to meet patients’ needs.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary team to provide holistic and person-centred care to patients. 
• Accurate and timely documentation. 
• Clinical skills - venepuncture, cannulation, insulin injections, catheters. 
• Educating patients regarding medication - optimising health literacy. 
• Using initiative by utilising 'making every contact count'. Providing support and brief interventions to promote health and wellbeing, i.e smoking cessation. 
• Follow care plans and organise workload in a strategic manner.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Promote patient safety in line with evidence best practice, NMC code of conduct and clinical governance. 
• Maintaining strict confidentiality. 
• IT competent. Confident learning new systems.
